My Visual Introduction I really had a lot of fun doing this project. I think it is because I like to scrapbook, and as anyone can see, my interpretation of this assignment is that it is kind of like a digital scrapbooking page. It was pretty easy to incorporate the principles of CARP into this assignment, and I think I have done this a lot in my photography and design projects over the years, without really having a name to go with it. The three black and white pictures of me and the blue shaded picture are all part of a self-portraiture project I embarked on during my year in England. Contrast The contrast in my introduction comes with the varied colors in the pictures and the words on the white background. I thought of changing both background color and text, but decided I would rather have it be a clean document, and that it would clutter it too much. Alignment Since I have pictures and text on both sides of center in my introduction, the eye is drawn toward that, rather than to the middle of the page. I was also thinking of the “rule of thirds” we use in photography when composing this document. Repetition I think of repetition as also being consistent. I don’t have pictures that repeat, but I made sure the title fonts and the text fonts are consistent for each of the Family, Work and Past sections. Proximity My categories of family, past and work are all grouped together. The book picture from my past reaches over to the work column, since they are so intertwined.
